The activity we did in class today was exceptionally eye opening. Intent and purpose have a large effect on the meaning of any text. The same text evoked a different emotional reaction from all four of the examples.
If I was to be in a setting where I was the educator, I would let my students choose their own song from the traditional concept of folk music to do covers of. Then, I would let them loose. I think this way the students who aren't necessarily motivated would become more so engaged in the activity. I would give the students around 4-6 hours of time in class to develop and practice their covers before arranging a date where all the groups could perform their pieces.
